Performance tweaks
If the modpack runs badly on your computer, there are several things you can do to improve performance.
Easy improvements
- Close other open applications
- In the Video Settings menu (Pause menu -> Settings... -> Video Settings...)
- Reduce the render distance
- Change Smooth Lighting to OFF
- Change Clouds to OFF
- Ensure Graphics is set to Fast
- Use VSync may improve or decrease performance - if Minecraft runs at ~60fps turn it on, if it's lower (e.g. ~30fps) turn it off
- Fullscreen mode may improve performance, if Borderless Mining is not installed
- Do not change Mipmap Levels, it is likely to crash your game
- In the installer (appears while launching the game), click Optional mods..., and ensure the following are disabled:
- ConnectedTexturesMod
- Blur
- Borderless Mining
Advanced tweaks
If the above tweaks aren't enough, here are some more difficult (but potentially more potent) tweaks you can try.
- If you have enough RAM, increase the amount of RAM allocated to the instance in MultiMC, by adjusting Minimum memory allocation and Maximum memory allocation in the instance settings (Edit Instance -> Settings)
- For best performance, keep Minimum memory allocation and Maximum memory allocation the same
- Your computer cannot allocate all of your RAM to Minecraft, you need to leave at least 1GB or so for Windows (or switch to Linux)
- In MultiMC, press the Config Folder button to open the config folder (changes will require the game to be restarted)
- In
foamfix.cfg, changeB:disableTextureAnimations=falsetoB:disableTextureAnimations=true - In
foamfix.cfg, changeB:disableRedstoneLight=falsetoB:disableRedstoneLight=true
- In
- As a last resort (this is untested and is very likely to cause problems), install Optifine for Minecraft 1.12.2, just drop the JAR in the mods folder
